Research Interests

Rodney Hicks is the Director of The Centre for Molecular Imaging at Peter Mac, an institution which is credited for installing the first PET/CT outside Europe and North America in December 2001. The facility now has an experience of over 30,000 PET studies performed since it was established in 1996. Rodney Hicks’ group has published extensively on the clinical impact of PET in oncology with particular interest in applications in radiation oncology including treatment selection, planning and therapeutic monitoring.

The Centre for Molecular Imaging at Peter Mac established the first small animal PET imaging facility in Australia in 2002 and now operates two small animal scanners with a strong focus on translational research and drug development. The Centre for Molecular Imaging also has an active radiopharmaceutical development program supported in part by involvement in the Cooperative Research Consortium for Biomedical Imaging Development. Rodney has had a long experience is radionuclide therapy having introduced Sr-89 therapy into Australia. He has also published in the fields of cardiologic and neurological PET.
